Chayote (Ċentinarja) is a pear-shaped member of the squash family with a pale green skin, a crisp texture, and a very mild flavour, often described as a cross between a cucumber and a potato. Its subtlety is its strength, as it readily absorbs the flavours of the ingredients it’s cooked with, making it a fantastic and healthy bulk ingredient for a variety of dishes. It is a low-calorie vegetable that is rich in fibre and folate. This pack of four is perfect for experimenting with this traditional ingredient. It can be eaten raw, thinly sliced into salads for a crisp texture. It is also wonderful when added to stews and soups, stir-fried, or stuffed and baked. It’s a truly versatile and healthy vegetable.
